Ubisoft® Integrates SENSIO® 3D Into its Second 3D Game Release: ‘Shaun White Skateboarding’
Leading game developer relies on SENSIO® 3D again to ensure high image quality and performance across popular game consoles
MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Sept. 23, 2010) – SENSIO Technologies Inc. (SENSIO) (TSX VENTURE:SIO) today announced that a second Ubisoft(R) title, “Shaun White Skateboarding,” will be available in SENSIO(R) 3D for output from both Xbox 360(R)and PlayStation(R)3 game consoles. Ubisoft introduced the 3D release of James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Game” at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 Expo) in 2009, and the company will release its second stereoscopic 3D (S3D) game, again equipped with SENSIO technology, on October 24 in North America and October 28 in Europe.
“The gaming experience is very sensitive to image quality, and we know from past collaboration with SENSIO that the company’s SENSIO(R) 3D format delivers the highest-quality images, as well as high reliability, ease of integration, and interoperability with leading game consoles,” said Patrick Naud, Executive Producer at Ubisoft for the Shaun White Skateboarding game. “We have been very pleased with the performance of SENSIO(R) 3D embedded in ‘Avatar: The Game,’ and we look forward to bringing another exciting game release to market in true stereoscopic 3D with SENSIO technology.”
Created in collaboration with the dual-sport super-athlete, “Shaun White Skateboarding” puts a twist on the action-sports game genre by allowing players to transform a dull, lifeless city into an extraordinary skating utopia. Just by skating around the landscape, players extend handrails into endless grinds, carve alleys into half-pipes, and morph streets into ramps, effectively building their own skating world. To enter this world in rich, immersive 3D, players simply connect their existing Xbox 360 or PlayStation3 game consoles directly to 3D-enabled TVs with built-in SENSIO(R) 3D decoding technology.
“Ubisoft is a recognized leader in developing and distributing popular video games, and we’re pleased to be working again with the company as it releases ‘Shaun White Skateboarding,'” said Richard LaBerge, Executive Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer at SENSIO. “We’ve already seen that stereoscopic 3D brings added value to game titles. By providing exceptional image quality consistently across both Microsoft(R) and Sony platforms, SENSIO(R) 3D makes high-quality S3D gaming accessible to a broad market segment.”
