Imation Secure, Removable Data Storage Device Wins CES Innovations Award
OAKDALE, Minn., Nov 15, 2010 — Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), a leading global technology company dedicated to helping people and organizations store, protect and connect with their digital world, today announced that the Imation Defender(TM) F200 Biometric Flash Drive received an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award in the competition’s computer peripherals category. The competition, judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media, honors outstanding design and engineering.
The Defender F200 Biometric Flash Drive protects users’ portable data from electronic intruders. With its advanced encryption technology and two-factor authentication capabilities – hardware-based fingerprint matching and strong password protection – the Defender F200 Biometric helps companies physically secure and protect their digital information. Validated at FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) 140-2 Level 3, its ergonomically designed biometric-swipe sensor puts government-level security within everyone’s reach. The tamper-evident metal enclosure is also waterproof and dustproof.
The Defender F200 Biometric Flash Drive is part of Imation’s Defender Collection(TM), the industry’s most complete line of digital storage products designed to meet rigorous domestic and international encryption standards, as well as protect data in government, financial, health care, consumer and other industries for which data security is paramount.
“Imation is honored to be recognized among the CES Innovations 2011 award winners,” said Subodh Kulkarni, chief technology officer and senior vice president, Imation. “This award recognizes the careful consideration that we paid to features, functionality and form factor in designing and engineering the F200 drive – and we’ve taken that same approach to building the entire Defender Collection line of secure storage devices. The need for data protection will only increase as the business world becomes more mobile. Expanding our secure data storage offerings to help businesses protect their mobile data will remain an important focal point for our innovation.”
The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, the producer of the International CES show, have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
Innovations Honorees will be displayed at the 2011 International CES, which runs January 6-9, 2011 in Las Vegas. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Underscoring the need for secure data storage in government markets and verticals such as health care, this year’s CES Conference tracks include “CES Government 2011,” which will in part address the defense of IT infrastructure and communications networks in the U.S. and abroad; and “Digital Health Summit,” addressing consumer-based innovations where technology and health care converge.
In addition, Imation will display its brand portfolio, including the Defender F200 Biometric flash drive, in Las Vegas at Storage Visions 2011, January 4-5, 2011 at the Riviera Hotel and at the Digital Experience! CES-timed Pepcom press event, January 5, 2011, 7-10 p.m. at Caesars Palace hotel.
