Acetrax: Sherlock Holmes the Most Popular Movie on Connected TVs

LONDON, December 13, 2010 —

– Movies on Demand Direct to your TV from Acetrax

Acetrax, the only premium movie retailer on connected TVs from Samsung, LG and Panasonic, has revealed the most popular films streamed through its service, including Sherlock Holmes, Clash Of The Titans and Harry Potter.

Acetrax sets itself apart from other movie services direct to TV (Sky, Virgin, Apple TV) by not requiring anything but a ‘smart’ TV and a standard broadband connection. It’s a pay-as-you-go service that allows customers to either rent (*24 or *48hrs) or buy (permanent ownership) films, in which there is also no need to commit to a service for a period of time, unlike other services like LoveFilm. The Acetrax Movies App allows users to conveniently register directly on their TVs and instantly playback purchased movies with credit top-up through Paypal synched on http://www.acetrax.com. As well as instant playback on TV, users can receive a copy for their laptop as well as three other **Acetrax Ready devices (such as new connected Blu-ray players in 2011). Every new user who registers will receive a free blockbuster movie to try out the service.

Acetrax is shipped with all new ‘smart’ TVs from Samsung, Panasonic and LG (50% of all new TVs sold in Europe). From Samsung’s own research, connected TVs will be in ***47m European households by 2014. The number of ‘activated’ TVs is also increasing and Samsung estimates ***40% of its connected TVs in the market are now activated.
