Edman Chan and Bryan Ishijima Join Company to Head Asia Cinema
LOS ANGELES & HONG KONG–RealD Inc. (NYSE:RLD), a leading global licensor of 3D technologies for cinema, consumer electronics and professional applications, announced today the opening of new offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The offices will focus on the company’s 3D Cinema business and handle sales, customer service and operations for greater China, Southeast Asia and Korea.
“Following on our success in North America and Europe, these new offices will allow us to grow our 3D cinema business in Asia,” said Joseph Peixoto, President of Worldwide Cinema at RealD. “As of last quarter, we had increased our installed screen count in Asia by over 350% from the prior year and we look forward to leveraging our new offices to continue this growth.”
Joining RealD and overseeing the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices is Edman Chan, the recently appointed General Manager of Greater China, Southeast Asia and Korea for Cinema. A native of Hong Kong, Edman brings to RealD over 20 years of experience at Eastman Kodak where he held varied roles across sales, marketing and general management. Most recently, Edman served as the Director of Sales and Markets Development, Digital Cinema for Greater China, ASEAN and Korea, where he was responsible for the development of Kodak Digital Cinema systems and services for 10 countries and territories. Other positions held with Kodak include General Manager of Digital Imaging Services for Greater China, General Manager of Cinelabs Beijing, a joint venture between Kodak and China Film Group, and General Manager of Kodak Cinema World, a joint venture between Kodak and Shanghai Film Group.

Also joining RealD is Bryan Ishijima, who has been named Director of Business Development, Cinema Japan. Based in Tokyo, Bryan will oversee Cinema business development and operations across Japan. Prior to joining RealD, Bryan was Sales Director for Twentieth Century Fox Japan, where he worked with exhibitors and industry partners on booking and marketing up to 20 feature film releases each year. Prior to his position at Twentieth Century Fox Japan, Bryan was Vice President of AMC Entertainment International where he established AMC’s corporate office in Japan and opened the exhibitor’s first multiplex sites. Under Bryan’s leadership, AMC built 5 multiplex locations across Japan accounting for 80 screens.
