New York, NY — December 27, 2010 — EarthCam, the world’s premiere webcam network, will once again exclusively webcast its 15th annual New Year’s Eve Times Square interactive celebration live from New York City and, for the first time anywhere, in 3D. Earthcam.com will also webcast from selected locations around world.

EarthCam will deliver the world’s largest party in Times Square directly to visitors live in 3D via its interactive New Year’s website. Viewers will have two ways to view the festivities in 3D. The first way will be with the traditional method viewed with glasses where the two lenses are different colors, such as red and blue. The second way will be for those with a new 3D television.

“We’ve been the first to webcast from many venues, including New Year’s Eve from Times Square 15 years ago,” said Brian Cury, Founder and CEO of EarthCam. “But no one has ever webcast this celebration, viewed by millions of people every year, in 3D. We continue to enjoy breaking new ground and delivering the benefits to our viewers. No network is carrying New Year’s Eve from Times Square in 3D. The only place you can experience this is at EarthCam.com.”

Plans for the New Year’s 2010 celebration call for more than 20 live camera views from Times Square on December 31st. Viewers will be able to select from among the New York cameras throughout the day and then enjoy events from viewpoints they have chosen. Visitors will enjoy streaming video with audio from the webcams strategically located in and around Times Square including one residing right next to the famous New Year’s Eve Ball. And if you miss any of the 3D action, the event will be archived on EarthCam.com so you can relive the action in 3D whenever you like. The evening’s events may also be accessed through the Apple and Android mobile devices.

Viewing tips: if you do not have a pair of 3D glasses, they can be made easily from any number of templates found online and with two pieces of colored cellophane. The 3D TV user will need to switch the TV to 3D mode and select side-by-side 3D format (popular brands include Sony, Toshiba and Samsung). This broadcast-quality webcast could be an excellent first 3D broadcast on a new 3D TV which might have arrived as a timely Christmas gift!

Cameras available for selection in over 25 additional locations throughout the world include São Paulo, Moscow, London, Key West, Montreal, Miami, Iceland, San Francisco, Niagara Falls, Prague, Malta, Nashville, New Orleans, The Philippines and Paris among the national and international celebrations. The Times Square events and views from selected cities will be archived in streaming video and as time-lapse movies for convenient viewing immediately following New Year’s Eve.
