SAN DIEGO and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2011 — DivX®, a division of Sonic Solutions® (Nasdaq: SNIC), today announced its first DivX Plus™ HD Certified chip for set-top boxes (STBs) with Broadcom’s BCM7208 HD IP STB system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution. In addition, Broadcom has continued to expand DivX Plus HD Certification across its digital TV SoC solutions by certifying the latest BCM35230 connected DTV platform. Broadcom’s new STB and digital TV solutions with DivX Plus HD support will be demonstrated at CES 2011, along with DivX TV™ ported to Broadcom platforms.
Broadcom’s new SoC solutions provide playback of DivX Plus HD H.264 video in an .mkv file container using the USB slot or streaming from the home network via Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for easy viewing in the living room. In addition, both SoC platforms enable consumers to enjoy special DVD-like features, including automated chapter points, enhanced trick play, and multiple video, audio and sub-title tracks.

DivX Plus HD Certification is the premium level of certification available from DivX, optimized for consumer electronics products and supports the playback of all content created with DivX software. Available on www.divx.com, DivX Plus Software allows users to create and playback H.264 video in an .mkv file container. DivX Plus HD Certified devices will playback all previous versions of DivX video, and DivX Plus HD video files with the .mkv file extension and AAC audio created with third-party tools. DivX software tools allow users to mobilize their DivX content for playback on over 400 million DivX Certified devices.
In addition to incorporating DivX Plus HD Certification at CES, Broadcom will also be demonstrating support for DivX TV, the company’s comprehensive Internet TV service that enables consumer electronics manufacturers to bring a broad range of web-based content to home and mobile devices. Integrated DLNA technology support enables consumers to locate and enjoy digital content anywhere on their home network and effortlessly move or stream this content between DLNA-connected devices. The BCM35230 is the third DivX Plus HD Certified digital TV solution from Broadcom, following the recent certifications for the BCM3549 and BCM3556 DTV platforms.
