PANASONIC OPENS WEST COAST 3D INNOVATION CENTER

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 5, 2011) — Panasonic Corporation will formally establish Panasonic 3D Innovation Center-Hollywood on January 10 to accelerate the growth of 3D-related businesses and provide a wide range of high-quality 3D content. The center will be the West Coast base of the Panasonic 3D Innovation Center established on September 1, 2010 within Panasonic Corporation of North America, the company’s regional headquarters.

Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory, the company’s Universal City-based R&D site, has been active for over fifteen years. Incorporating Panasonic 3D Innovation Center-Hollywood within Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory will further deepen the company’s ties with the movie studios, broadcasting, and entertainment industries, encourage the creation of a wide range of high-quality 3D content and new 3D applications, and further improve 3D production technology. Maximizing the synergy of software and hardware in collaboration with industry leaders in Hollywood will further expand the reach of 3D-related businesses.

· Providing 3D experience for the industry (including demonstrating a state-of-the-art 3D experience using 3D equipment for both consumers and professionals)

· Holding 3D educational seminars (covering the principles of 3D, physiological reaction to 3D, 3D shooting and editing techniques, etc.)

· Proposing 3D solutions (total solutions, including systems/equipment and content, for enterprises)

· Arranging 3D promotions (planning and executing 3D-related events)

Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory, located at the center of the global entertainment industry, has a long list of accomplishments in 3D-related technologies, including the development of a 3D format for Blu-ray Discs. The leadership shown by Panasonic in the field of 3D has earned the Charles Wheatstone Award from the International 3D Society and much praise from the industry.

The 3D business, including 3D TVs, is expected to grow into a market worth 60 billion US dollars by 2020 as full-scale expansion takes off. Panasonic has already established other 3D Innovation Centers in Osaka, Japan and Wiesbaden, Germany in 2010. With this new center in Hollywood, the company has formed a solid infrastructure in the three regions where demand for 3D products and services is most developed.
