Marseille Networks Announces Development Kit Availability for Quad-HD Enabled Blu-Ray Players, AVRs, and All-in-One PCs

CE Manufacturers Can Prepare Now for Holiday 2011 Device Deployment
2011 International CES

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & LAS VEGAS–Marseille Networks, creator of chip virtualization and quad-HD video processing technology, today announced immediate availability of Virtual Silicon development systems for Blu-Ray Players, AVRs, and All-in-One PCs. The offering allow system development for the upcoming VTV-122x family of 4K scaler/up-converters.

The company will demonstrate a number of Quad-HD enabled prototypes this week at CES in Las Vegas, January 6-9, 2011.

With the Development Kits, CE OEMs may immediately begin device testing and software development in order to deliver Quad HD devices to the global consumer market in time for the Holiday 2011 season. The new products will allow consumers to experience the richness and detail of 4K photos and videos for the first time.

“Quad-HD represents a paradigm shift in home theater quality, producing four times more pixels, resulting in an overall visually stunning and more immersive experience,” said Amine Chabane, CEO of Marseille Networks. “New devices based on this technology will allow people to enjoy a true cinema experience from their home theater systems and the visual richness of digital still images.”

Many of today’s digital still images are huge – ranging from three to 12 megapixels, yet can only be displayed on today’s HDTVs at 1080p (~2 megapixel). With Quad-HD, images can now be displayed more true-to-life. Marseille has successfully virtualized its up-converter technologies, enabling prototype devices to take a 720p or 1080p video to full Quad-HD.

Using advanced proprietary processing techniques, Marseille 122x up-converter chips can be used in the next generation of source and display devices and are performance optimized enabling HDMI 4K or 3D features, the pinnacle of home theater performance. Furthermore, they can be easily dropped into existing device designs allowing for fast time to market of cost optimized products. The development kit accepts up to 1080p input, and provides de-interlacing as appropriate, 4K up-conversion, and 3D support.

Marseille VTV-122x Virtual Silicon development kits are available now. For more information about Marseille Networks and its full line of products, visit www.marseillenetworks.com.
