AMIMON Demonstrates WHDI Integrated Into TI’s OMAP 4 Based Blaze Mobile Development Platform at Mobile World Congress

WHDI Provides a High Quality HD Wireless Connection From the Tablets and Mobile Devices to the HDTV

BARCELONA, SPAIN and SANTA CLARA, CA–(February 14, 2011) – AMIMON, the market leader in wireless HDTV semiconductor solutions, announced today the demonstration of AMIMON’s WHDI™ (Wireless Home Digital Interface™) chipset integrated into TI’s OMAP™4 based Blaze™ Mobile Development Platform (MDP). This platform showcases the ability to embed and integrate AMIMON’S WHDI chipset into sleek and small consumer electronic devices. AMIMON’s WHDI chipsets are compliant with the WHDI standard.

Among other applications, TI’s Blaze (MDP) is designed for high-quality HD video (1080p), high-performance multimedia and graphic intense 3D gaming. The Blaze (MDP) with AMIMON’s WHDI highlights WHDI’s capabilities for device manufactures, product developers and engineers. WHDI technology can be designed in a compact form-factor that’s easily embeds into mobile devices. Additionally, WHDI technology has low power consumption that delivers long battery life. Mobile devices, smartphones and tablets embedded with WHDI technology enable users to wirelessly view all of the devices content on their TVs without the limitations of other solutions.

WHDI enables wireless delivery of high-quality 1080p and 3D video from a portable device to a TV. Also, with virtually no latency (less than one millisecond) WHDI can wirelessly connect a portable device to a TV for interactive game play.

The Blaze MDP with embedded WHDI will be showcased in the TI booth located in Hall 8, Stand 8A84 at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, which runs February 14-17 in Barcelona. AMIMON will also be demonstrating tablets with WHDI embedded, smartphone WHDI sleeves for wireless mobile-to-TV connectivity and its WHDI Stick that provides a wireless PC-to-TV connection in its booth located in Hall: 4.1, Hospitality Suite 4.1HS01.

“AMIMON has been moving down the path towards embedding its WHDI technology into portable devices and is still on course,” said David Shefler, vice president of sales and business development for AMIMON. “The WHDI technology is the only solution that provides low latency and seamless wireless connection giving consumer an excellent user experience.”

“TI’s Blaze MDP offers developers, designers and engineers a powerful platform to develop and test software for high-performance portable devices that enable high-quality video, browsing and interactive gaming,” said Avner Goren, General Manager of Strategic Marketing, OMAP Platform Business Unit TI. “With virtually no latency, the high-quality WHDI link provides great interactive experiences that can enable consumers to enjoy the full performance of the OMAP based mobile device wirelessly on their big screen TV.”

AMIMON’s wireless technology is the basis of the WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) standard. The WHDI standard delivers the highest image quality for in-room and multi-room HD wireless connections, including uncompressed 1080p/60Hz HD video. WHDI utilizes a 40MHz channel in the 5GHz unlicensed band and can be implemented with a single antenna for minimal footprint. WHDI includes support for all 3D formats required by the HDMI™ 1.4a specification and range of over 100 feet (30 meters) through obstacles and walls. WHDI supports HDCP revision 2.0, providing superior security and digital content protection, and full compatibility with HDMI.
