actidata product range evolves further with innovative RDX products
Hanover / Dortmund, 1st March 2011 – At the CeBIT 2011 trade fair in the Planet Reseller area (halls 14/15 – booth K41), storage specialist actidata is introducing two new storage and backup products enhancing its range of innovative RDX® products and helping its customers to easily update from older tape technologies.
New actidata RDX library
The first product premiering at the fair in Hanover is the RDX library, actiDisk vTanis RDX. The new actiDisk vTanis RDX is equipped with 8 RDX cartridges that provide up to 8 TB of online capacity when fully assembled with actidata’s 1 TB cartridges. With the actiDisk vTanis RDX customers achieve a network-attached disk library based on RDX technology. It is the ideal solution for customers looking to migrate from older tape technologies, consolidate their RDX storage, or replace their existing DAT autoloader with a cost- effective, higher capacity and faster throughput alternative. It addresses the need for greater online storage availability of RDX cartridge removable disk storage.
The actiDisk vTanis RDX uses a high performance iSCSI-based connection to facilitate network-based access to any of its eight online RDX media. It supports up to 6 GB per minute of read/write data throughput. It is compatible with existing data software and it easily integrates into a broad range of environments.
The actiDisk vTanis RDX leverages the existing RDX removable cartridge and creates a new storage standard for this technology by allowing multiple RDX cartridges to be located anywhere along the network and accessed by multiple hosts.
Price and availability – The retail price (MSRP) of the actiDisk vTanis RDX® will be 2 291 euros. It comes with a three-year warranty and will be available in Q2 2011.
actiNAS Cube goes rack-mount, smart,simple and safe
A further new actidata product featuring RDX technology is the actiNAS Cube 2U RDX® which is the 2U rack-mount version of the sister product actiNAS Cube RDX, the cube-shaped NAS device introduced last year which has 5 x 2 TB slots and one slot for an RDX backup-unit for off-site data safekeeping.
All-in-one device
The actiNAS Cube 2U RDX® supports up to 8 SAS or SATA hard disks and can thus achieve a substantial storage capacity of up to 24 TB (8 x 3 SATA III HDD), two integrated RDX backup devices and is already equipped with integrated backup software. This product is not only characterized by a high performance NAS system, it is also able to store, backup and archive business-critical data for off-site safekeeping.
With this combination the actiNAS Cube 2U RDX® connects important purposes of professional storage environments together in an all-in-one device. Not only does it allow different users to access data simultaneously, but also allows important data to be stored at a secure location or copied through the two RDX cartridges for off-site storage, disaster recovery and archiving. Due to its low maintenance costs, simple administrability, iSCSI target function and integrated server function it offers small and mid-sized companies a reliable and high-performance product for their storage and data archiving.
