Taiyo Yuden announced the earthquake that struck the northern region of Japan on March 11, 2011 may affect shipments from its That’s Fukushima subsidiary, which manufacturers recordable CD (CD-R), DVD (DVD±R) and Blu-ray (BD-R) discs.

According to the statement, the company has suspended production at the plant due to building and equipment damage caused by the quake as well an ongoing power outage and interruption to the supply of natural gas.
