The DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) announced that its authorized licensor, Toshiba, has filed a demand for arbitration to collect royalties allegedly due under the DVD6C patent license with ChangZhou XingQiu Electric Co., Ltd. (China).
According to the statement, Toshiba continues to pursue arbitration proceedings against Axiom Technologies Manufacturing Pte Ltd. (Singapore), Coby Electronics Co., Ltd. (China), GDD Manufacturing S.r.l. (Italy), Premium Disc Corporation (Canada) and Tonic Digital Products Limited (Hong Kong) to collect royalties allegedly due under their DVD6C patent licenses. These actions are part of a global initiative by the DVD6C Licensing Group to collect unpaid royalties and this new arbitration brings the total number filed by Toshiba as part of this drive to eleven.
As a matter of background, the DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) is a patent pool formed by nine developers of DVD technology including Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo Electric, Sharp, Toshiba, JVC and Time Warner.
