Toronto, ON, May 12, 2011 – Consumer Electronics Marketers of Canada (CEMC)–an Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) council–and the Canadian Imaging Trade Association (CITA), announce the release of the newly-published report, 2011 Consumer Electronics Market Trends and Forecast. The report is available for sale for $250 CDN plus applicable taxes at www.cemc-efc.ca or by contacting info@electrofed.com.
This thorough industry-wide report is regarded as the benchmark for industry business planning, providing an overview of past, current and future trends facing the Canadian consumer electronics market. The 2011 report is a snapshot of an industry about to significantly revitalize the way Canadians are served by the consumer technologies that enable many aspects of their daily lives. Televisions, digital picture frames, Bluetooth devices, cameras and camcorders are about to be as connected as computers, poised to provide new conduits for consumer brands to provide services. These trends, as well as a snapshot of industry vertical-specific economic performance, and an exploration of digital-enabled entertainment broadcast services across Canada, are all detailed in the report. Data is collected from CEMC’s and CITA’s statistical programs, which gather, analyze, and report data on leading consumer electronics categories.
“This year will be an exciting one for our membership and perhaps a somewhat overwhelming time for consumers as they move to understand and adopt the technologies that meet their requirements,” says Jim Taggart, President & CEO, Electro-Federation Canada. “Our members and the retail community have a tremendous opportunity to clearly convey their messages to consumers to help them make valuable choices that will maintain consumer adoption, industry growth and continued innovation across the market.”
“We are at the very tip of a rapidly-changing and dynamic market that has massive momentum in service capabilities, for instance, “connected” televisions that allow greater access to content, whether it’s wirelessly streamed from a notebook or directly from the Internet,” says Susan Winter, Vice President, CEMC. “Consider that 86% of Canadian households have HD signal and growing access to Blu-ray and advances in High Definition, WiFi and 3D Ready capabilities as well as Interactive Internet features. Also consider the potential for brand interaction through new convenient services, traditionally only accessed on computing-specific devices. The trends revealed in the report point to a solid positioning for a host of new consumer functionalities across all of our product categories–from mobile connectivity and imaging to television, audio and video.”
