Technicolor Partners with Warner Bros

Technicolor announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Warner Bros. covering a broad number of areas.

According to the statement, Technicolor and Warner Bros. have entered into a long term contract covering replication and distribution services for DVD and Blu-ray discs, which is expected to start generating material revenue for Technicolor in its third quarter 2010. The partnership also covers other aspects relating to strategic technology initiatives.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Warner Bros., the recognized world leader in packaged media,” said Frederic Rose, CEO of Technicolor. “Combining their expertise in creating entertainment properties and key technologies related to them with Technicolor’s unrivalled track record of technological innovation is an exciting proposition filled with opportunity for both parties.”

This comes a day after disc replicator Cinram revealed that Warner is terminating its service agreements with the company on July 31, 2010.

Previously, Technicolor announced that it had extended and expanded its existing multi-territory DVD replication and distribution services agreements with Paramount Home Entertainment (October 21, 2009) and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (March 10, 2009).

In 2007, Technicolor shuttered a number of its facilities in the US and Europe, transferring and consolidating its DVD manufacturing to its plants in Mexico (Zapopan/Guadalajara) and Poland (Piaseczno).
