The first Blu-ray disc production facility opened in the Baltic States by BOD Group

BOD Group has opened a Blu-ray disc production centre in Vilnius which is the first in the Baltic States and one of the most modern plants across Europe delivering Full HD picture quality. Investments to the production totals LTL 8.3 million. 90% of the products will be exported.

In Vilnius, BOD Group commissioned the BLULINE II Blu-ray production system from German company Singulus to produce annually 6 million Blu-ray discs holding 25GB or 4.76 million discs holding 50GB.

“Today there is a favourable situation in the Baltic States’ market. Sellers of household equipment forecast Blu-ray player sales to double in 2011, as compared to the last year.  Large screen LCD and LED TVs are also rapidly gaining in popularity. They continue getting cheaper and affordable to more households. Yet, a real breakthrough in this market is expected only in 2012-2013”.

With widescreen TVs becoming more and more popular, customers are not satisfied any longer with the content shown on traditional TVs and start actively looking for high definition movies available only in a Blu-ray format.
