LAS VEGAS–The Digital Living Network Alliance® (DLNA®) continues to redefine the boundaries of the connected home with the introduction of DLNA Premium Video. With DLNA Premium Video, service providers can allow consumers to stream their favorite television programs and movies to DLNA Certified® products such as digital televisions, tablets, mobile phones, Blu-ray disc players and video game consoles.

“Connected devices are taking on an important role in the home, providing consumers with additional choices for what products to use, and where to place them,” said Jeff Orr, group director, consumer research, ABI Research. “Service providers on a global scale are looking at practical ways to deliver premium content to connected devices. The introduction of DLNA Premium Video builds upon the proliferation of DLNA Certified products, opening up new promise for consumer choice and content availability. Developing and embracing standards for the distribution and protection of premium video content is critical for companies driving the next generation digital home ecosystem.”

DLNA Premium Video enables the streaming of television programs and movies to multiple DLNA Certified® products. For instance, you can begin watching a favorite television show in the living room on your DLNA Certified® television and then continue the same program hours later in your bedroom on a DLNA Certified® tablet. Content will be delivered by service providers to a single set-top box that connects to your home network; reducing the clutter of multiple set-top boxes in the home.

“Today’s consumers want to be connected at all times and smart devices give them this freedom,” said Nidhish Parikh, chairman and president of DLNA. “As pioneers in connecting people and their devices, we’ve achieved a key milestone with the introduction of DLNA Premium Video, allowing consumers to easily connect and enjoy premium content throughout their homes.”
