PANASONIC ANNOUNCES CARRY OVER OF 2011 DVD PLAYERS
DVD Players Offer Premium Picture Quality with 1080p Up-Conversion and Progressive Scan
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (January 9, 2012) – Panasonic Corporation of North America, (NYSE: PC), a major developer of the DVD format, today announced that select models from last year’s successful DVD model line up will continue in 2012. The two DVD players, the DVD-S68 and the DVD-S48, as well as the portable DVD player, DVD-LS92 feature multi-format playback and are ideal for users who both record their own discs on DVD recorders1 and view commercially recorded DVD discs.
While both the DVD-S68 and DVD-S48 are advanced progressive scan DVD/CD players, the DVD-S68 provides 1080p HD up-conversion and features Multiple Operation with a Single Remote (HDMI-CEC) and Dolby® Digital for high quality audio. Both models play DVD-R1, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs.
The DVD-LS92 is designed to provide the ultimate high definition experience for those traveling, as well as serve as an additional Blu-ray Disc or DVD player for use with any HDTV. The portable DVD player features a 9-inch WQVGA LCD Screen, high quality picture, Dolby® Digital sound and an SD Memory card slot that can play back digital still JPEG images. This portable DVD player features 11 hours of playback time, making it the perfect entertainment companion for lengthy trips.
“These models continue in our 2012 line-up to provide consumers with an affordable entertainment product that will provide the user with a great vehicle to enjoy DVD content, as well as CDs, either in the home or when traveling,” said Alex Fried, Panasonic, Senior Product Manager, Entertainment Group. “The S48 has all the attributes for a great entertainment experience, while the S68 delivers a step up in picture quality with its HD Up-conversion technology. The portable player provides the consumer with a reasonably priced player that can be used on the road or as a secondary in-home player.”
