Optimistic outlook for 2012
Dr.-Ing. Stefan Rinck, Chief Executive Officer of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, comments: “With the two strong core work areas Optical Disc and Solar as well as the opportunities offered by the semi-conductor market and the potential of new applications in vacuum coating, we are optimistic for the year 2012.”

SINGULUS’ goal is to continue to maintain the market leadership in the Optical Disc division for dual layer Blu-ray Disc production machines.

The market for Blu-ray once again displayed double-digit growth rates in 2011. The market research institute Futuresource Consulting expects an even stronger growth in 2012. The Blu-ray market turns more and more into a mass market.

With respect to the silicon and thin-film solar technology SINGULUS positions itself at the forefront as a machine suppler as well as a development partner for new cell concepts. Accordingly, the completion of a contract for the supply of a line for the production of crystalline solar cells presents an additional important expansion step for SINGULUS in the Solar segment. With this SINGULUS displays the capability of its competencies combined within the company ranging from the supply of all essential machines to complete production lines.

SINGULUS possesses proven know-how in the manufacturing of deposition machines for semiconductor devices. In the past couple of days two additional orders in this segment were received. The business activities in the Nano-Deposition segment are only an example for this and will be intensified in the course of the growing market for the MRAM semiconductor technology.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES intends to transfer this know-how in the area of the development of vacuum coating machines to other application areas. In addition, the company reviews other sectors and work areas, where new market segments can be developed in the area of vacuum coating.

SINGULUS will publish the final report for the business year 2011 on March 27, 2012.
