NXP Software Adds Support for DTS Audio to a Range of LifeVibes™ Products, Including QuickPlayer and CineXPlayer, Enabling Superior Audio On the Go

IP&TV World Forum 2012

LONDON–DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced a partnership with leading mobile multimedia software vendor NXP Software to integrate a suite of DTS audio technologies in its QuickPlayer and CineXPlayer smart media player solutions.

In a fragmented media world, it is difficult to deploy differentiated new media services to a broad range of connected devices. DTS addresses these challenges by providing a scalable audio solution facilitating delivery of high quality audio from stereo to multi-channel for digital content. DTS’ collaboration with NXP Software enables studios, service providers and network operators to rapidly deploy HD video services with the highest quality audio to a wide range of Android and iOS smart phones and tablets.

“We are pleased to add DTS as a key partner, as the company’s technology enables us to bring the same great audio that currently serves over 80% of the Blu-Ray market to mobile phones and tablets,” said Cees Geel, managing director, NXP Software. “We believe that a high quality audio experience makes these devices much more valuable to consumers and allows them to enjoy and share a highly engaging and immersive entertainment experience.”

DTS and NXP Software agree that sound matters and that superior audio enhances the overall consumer entertainment experience. Consumers are no longer willing to accept sub-par audio from their mobile devices. As proof, a recent research report from YouGov* shows that seven out of 10 adults between the ages of 18 and 24 name “Top Quality Sound” as important to them.

Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer at DTS, Inc. added, “DTS and NXP Software are key players in changing the way people consume and interact with high quality entertainment content. By adding DTS audio into LifeVibes smart player solutions such as CineXPlayer and QuickPlayer, we make it easier for studios, service providers and network operators to deploy superior audio regardless of the platform.”

*All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2114 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 17th – 20th February 2012. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all UK adults (aged 18+).
