Imation Showcases Military Grade Solutions for Securing Mobile Government Workforces at 2012 FOSE Conference & Exposition
Offerings Protect Data, Identities and Workspaces to Support Public Sector Push Toward Cloud Computing and Teleworking
FOSE 2012
Booth 607
WASHINGTON — Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), a global scalable storage and data security company, today announced a range of activities at the 2012 FOSE Conference & Exposition, a public sector IT event held April 3-5, 2012 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. In booth 607 at the show, Imation will demonstrate how its mobile security solutions advance public sector initiatives such as teleworking and cloud computing that are intended to cut IT costs and increase efficiencies and worker productivity.
In February of this year, Imation unveiled a portfolio of solutions designed to secure the mobile workforce. By offering a combination of hardware and software solutions that encompass secure encrypted USB flash drives and external hard disk drives, on-premise or cloud-based management systems, and strong user and network authentication, the portfolio addresses the needs for solutions for securing mobile data, securing mobile identities, and providing a secure mobile workspace.
“Federal government IT initiatives recognize how workforces are increasingly mobile, and Imation has a strong track record of success deploying technologies within the public sector that provide fail-safe, secure solutions for mobile workers,” said Lawrence Reusing, Imation’s general manager for Mobile Security. “Imation matches the military-grade security specifications required within the government with practical applications to enable new computing models for secure teleworking, and for securing the data employees carry on portable media. It’s the right combination for any government agency.”
In further support of this trend, federal agencies seeking to meet the goals of the Teleworking Enhancement Act can provide federal employees an Imation-powered encrypted USB drive that serves as their secure Windows® workstation, booting up a controlled environment and applications on the employee’s home computer.
Based on the acquisitions of IronKey’s storage hardware business, and assets of MXI Security and ENCRYPTX, Imation’s product portfolio meets even the most stringent demands of public sector customers. Solutions are up to FIPS 140-2 Level 3* while offering hardware-based AES-256 encryption, multi-factor authentication and biometrics.
“Adoption of secure storage technologies and control over mobile devices is critical in the public and private sector,” Reusing commented. The most recent Ponemon institute study on data breaches found that malicious insiders cause 31 percent of all data breaches and the average cost of such a breach is $318 per lost record. A survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Imation found that while 91 percent of companies allow removable storage devices on their networks, only 34 percent enforce encryption policies.
