PANASONIC INTRODUCES THE WORLD’S SMALLEST AND LIGHTEST[1] 20,000 LUMEN PROJECTOR SERIES

The PT-DZ21K Series 3-Chip DLP projectors feature 20,000 lumens of brightness, low maintenance and setup flexibility in a compact size

Las Vegas, NV, April 15, 2012 – Panasonic, a provider of professional projector solutions, today announced the PT-DZ21K Series, compact, 20,000 lumen 3-chip DLP projectors for applications that require extremely high brightness. The Series includes the PT-DZ21KU with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution and 20,000 lumens of brightness, the PT-DS20KU with SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) resolution and 20,000 lumens of brightness, and the PT-DW17KU with WXGA (1,366 x 768) resolution and 16,500 lumens of brightness. In addition to the high brightness and compact size, the projectors boast long lamp replacement cycles of up to 2,000 hours, 3D compatibility[2] and installation flexibility, making the projectors ideal for large-venue applications. This includes environments such as auditoriums and museums and rental and staging applications that require easy handling.

The combination of four new 465W UHM lamps and Dynamic Iris allow the projectors to deliver a 10,000:1 contrast ratio for high brightness and high picture quality. The PT-DZ21KU and PT-DS20KU projectors are 3D ready, providing greater visual impact for the viewer. This encompasses an active shutter system in which the projector can be easily equipped with an external emitter via the 3D timing signal IN/OUT terminal. For a passive polarized 3D system, frame sequential, side by side, and top and bottom formats are supported. Together, these technologies combine to create bright and beautiful images. For medical school and hospital applications, the projectors are equipped with the DICOM Simulation mode, enabling end-users to view X-ray images.

“Our customers told us there is a market need for powerful, bright, reliable, yet more compact large-venue projectors that will also help alleviate excess costs associated with shipping and transport,” said Scott Wellington, Product Marketing Manager for Projectors at Panasonic Solutions for Business. “The introduction of the PT-DZ21K Series 3-Chip DLP projectors, that is nearly 50 percent smaller than the current industry offerings, is Panasonic’s direct response to helping end-users realize increased ROI without sacrificing product performance and visual experience for their audience in a variety of environments – from museums and auditoriums, to large-scale rental and staging applications.”

The devices have been designed with an extremely small footprint due to a highly efficient optical design as well as an improved liquid cooling system that makes it possible to keep the noise level to a minimum during operation. Due to its compact size, the Series’ total cost of ownership is further enhanced by saving warehouse space and minimizing the cost of shipping devices from one location to another. The PT-DZ21KU Series is built to maximize savings with a maintenance-free Eco Filter with a lifespan of up to 12,000 hours, and low-power consumption of under 2,500W[3].

The PT-DZ21K Series helps realize unique and captivating video performance with numerous built-in features. The Lens Memory adjusts the image size and location in up to three different projection positions. Users can program the mechanical shutter to fade the image in and out during show transitions, and all three models have built in Edge Blending, as well as Multi-Unit Brightness Control for projections onto wide screens and surfaces to create an immersive experience. Furthermore, both PT-DZ21KU and PT-DS20KU projectors are able to project onto various curved-screens with the Geometric Adjustment feature, which can be enhanced with the optional upgrade kit, ET-UK20, to support even more diverse curvatures and shapes with bitmap masking.

Basic installation flexibility is provided by a comprehensive optional lens selection that supports a wide range of throw distances. 360-degree installation capability enables projections onto floors and ceilings. The projectors boast high durability with an operating temperature between 32°~113° Fahrenheit. Flexibility and reliability are further enhanced by the projectors’ capability to handle more than 100 input signals. Several available input terminals include SDIx2, HDMI, DVI-D, LAN (RJ45) and 3D timing signal IN/OUT.

In addition, end-users can remotely monitor and operate the PT-DZ21K Series projectors using Panasonic’s own Multi Projector Monitoring and Control Software. The web browser feature enables users to view and send email alerts from the projector.

The PT-DZ21KU projector will be available in May 2012, and the PT-DS20KU and PT-DW17KU will be available in June 2012, with the MSRP being announced at the time of availability.
