Addonics Unveils Advanced Port Multiplier — Connect 5 eSATA Storage Devices to Any Computer
SAN JOSE, CA–(Aug 16, 2012) – Addonics Technologies (www.addonics.com) today announced the Port Multiplier (PM) Ultra, one of the most advanced external PMs on the market. It will connect as many as five eSATA storage devices to any computer via a single eSATA or USB 3.0 port.
The five external hard drives attached to the PM Ultra can be configured as RAID 0/1/5/10, combined as one large volume, or appear as five individual drives. You can also connect five SATA optical drives, such as DVD-RRW or Blu-ray drives, to your system via the eSATA connection and do simultaneous recording.
By attaching multiple Addonics RAID Towers, you can easily build a large storage farm in excess of 100 TB. The storage devices that are attached to the PM Ultra are easily shareable on any LAN by attaching to the Addonics NAS 4.0 adapter.
RAID configuration is set via dip switches on the back of the unit or via the included software utility. The drive and PM status are visually monitored by LEDs on the front and back or via the bundled monitoring software. If a drive failure or RAID error occurs, users are notified via an audio alert or via email to an SMTP account. The hot swap capability of the PM Ultra also allows external hard drives to be conveniently attached or removed on-the-fly without restarting the system.
The Addonics PM Ultra is constructed in a heavy gauge metal housing with ventilation on the side for efficient heat dissipation. The PM Ultra can be easily installed in various computing environments.
The MSRP for the Addonics PM Ultra is $119.
