Presstek, Inc. announced that Brooklyn-based Advanced Digital Printing has enhanced its production capabilities by adding a Presstek 52DI-AC digital offset press to its equipment portfolio.
According to the statement, Advanced Digital Printing was previously operating two Presstek 52DIs, one of which they upgraded to the 52DI-AC. With its integrated aqueous coater, the 52DI-AC will not only reduce overall cycle time for the creation of high-production-value printed product, but it will also open the door for many new applications and business opportunities for Advanced Digital Printing.
“We are excited to bring this new capability to our customers,” said Elazar Wadler, Chief Information Officer for Advanced Digital Printing. “It will especially bring value to our production of CD and DVD packaging materials. With both a standard Presstek 52DI and the new 52DI-AC, combined with our laser die cutting capability, Advanced Digital Printing brings new capabilities to the production of high quality, cost effective CD/DVD wallets and other items produced on board stock, applications that can only be produced because of the DI press.” In addition, Advanced Digital Printing will be using the Presstek 52DI-AC to produce short-run booklets, postcards and flyers for its customers. “We are also very excited about the opportunity to establish relationships to produce this type of short-run, high quality work for other printers at very competitive trade prices,” added Wadler.
Aqueous coating provides a clear surface that protects the underlying print from dirt, smudges, fingerprints and scratching. Aqueous coating improves the durability of postcards as they go through the mail or are inserted into pockets. It is also applied on brochures, catalog covers, flyers and other visual promotional materials as well as packaging of various types. Gloss, satin or dull finishes can be selected to increase visual appeal and creates eye-catching print media. The Presstek 52DI-AC is capable of either flood or spot coating. When spot aqueous coating is applied, the coated image or text literally pops off the page with a more dramatic finish than varnish.
“We are pleased to be working with Elazar and Advanced Digital Printing as they continue to expand their outstanding product portfolio and innovative customer service,” said Mark Levin, President of the Americas Region of Presstek. “Advanced Digital Printing is a terrific example of a company on the move, making investments in line with emerging customer requirements that enable continued growth despite the economic challenges the industry at large is facing. The company is also able to leverage this press to generate new revenue opportunities both from existing and new customers.”
