No word if this move is related to Kanguru Solutions’ lawsuit over the Defender trademark.

Imation to Unify Mobile Security Portfolio around IronKey Brand

Featuring The World’s Most Secure Flash Drive™, the Imation IronKey brand will bring together Imation’s secure data, identity and workspace solutions for enterprise and government customers

OAKDALE, Minn. — Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), a global scalable storage and data security company, today announced its new brand strategy for its Imation Mobile Security portfolio, to be built around the IronKey™ brand. The new Imation Mobile Security brand architecture will feature the Imation IronKey brand for Imation’s secure data, identity and workspace solutions for enterprise and government customers.

The Imation IronKey portfolio includes the iconic IronKey products, technology, and expertise that – along with assets of MXI Security™ and ENCRYPTX™ – became a foundation of Imation’s Mobile Security business with Imation’s acquisition of the IronKey secure storage hardware business in 2011. Initially used by Imation under a brand license, the IronKey brand is now wholly-owned by Imation. The current IronKey, Inc., which enables secure access to enterprise provisioned public and private clouds, has re-branded as Marble Cloud, Inc.

The IronKey drive was designed and built to be The World’s Most Secure Flash Drive™. The IronKey brand has earned a reputation for high-security, ruggedness, strong customer support, a user-friendly interface and cloud-based device management. These are attributes that Imation will extend across its line of portable, secure USB solutions.

Advancing the IronKey Platform
Imation’s Mobile Security research, development and engineering team has been supporting and manufacturing the current line and advancing the IronKey platform. Imation recently made the new Imation IronKey x250 Basic drives available and will launch its IronKey x250 Personal and Enterprise secure flash drives later in Q4 of this year. The IronKey drive is also the platform for Imation’s forthcoming line of secure mobile workspace PC on a Stick™ devices.
