Current Market Trends Optical Disc, Solar and Semiconductor: SINGULUS Event with International Participation

Kahl am Main, December 6, 2012 – On December 4, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES hosted an international customer event in Kahl am Main. The two-day event was themed “Review on the Optical Disc Market 2012 and Outlook 2013-2014 and the Media-Tech Year-End Event”. Including participants from Arvato, Cinram, Sony, Technicolor and many more, Sylvia Hitzel, Vice President Marketing & Sales SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES, welcomed many large companies from the media industry at the headquarters in Kahl am Main. The more than 100 participants represented 57 companies from 16 countries. The keynote presentation was given by Steve Brown, CEO of CINRAM, Toronto, Canada. In his speech Steve Brown presented the changes in consumer behavior as well as new ways for marketing the Blu-ray Disc. Current market trends and innovative production technology, from both the manufacturers’ viewpoint and renowned market research institutes such as EuPD, Futuresource and VLSI Research, were showcased.

The presentations provided an overview of the current situation, latest trends and an outlook for future technologies. Innovative applications such as Nintendo’s new gaming console Wii U with a Blu-ray Disc drive were also inspected on site by the participants. Developments and outlooks for SINGULUS’ business areas Solar and Semiconductor were also showcased and discussed. In his speech, Markus A. W. Hoehner, CEO of EuPD Research, presented possible developments for new energy storage technology as well as its influence on the application of photovoltaics.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES, market leader for CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc production machines, used the opportunity to present its latest Blu-ray production technologies.
