TOSHIBA ANNOUNCES NEW MEDIA BOX AND UNIVERSAL DISC PLAYER LINE-UP

All-new Toshiba Media Box Line Combines Power of a Media Streaming Device with Playback Capabilities of a Universal Disc Player

LAS VEGAS, CES 2013, LVCC Central Hall Booth #10926 – Jan. 8, 2013 – Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced a new line of Media Boxes with Blu-ray Disc™, DVD and Audio CD player capabilities that offers a better, smarter connected experience. Unlike other media streaming devices, the Toshiba Media Boxes include advanced features such as a full, open web browser with bookmark capability, an easy-to-use multi-page user interface. In addition, models with built-in Wi-Fi® support Miracast™ for seamlessly displaying video between devices, without cables or a network connection.

Toshiba Media Boxes also provide access to a wide variety of high quality content, including key media apps such as YouTube®, Netflix®, Vudu® Movies and Vudu Apps, CinemaNow®, Hulu Plus™ and Pandora®.

In addition to enhancing the connected experience, the flagship BDX6400 also takes disc playback quality to an all-new level. This model features powerful picture quality enhancements, including superior 1080p playback with advanced edge and detail enhancement as well as 4K UltravHD Upconversion.

All models come wrapped in a new compact cosmetic design, with 3D models featuring illuminated touch controls and the 4K UltraHD model featuring a smaller square slot-loading design.

The new Toshiba Media Box and Universal Disc Player line-up includes four models:

•    BDX2400 – with server access and open browser

•    BDX3400 – with server access, open browser, built-in Wi-Fi and Miracast

•    BDX5400 – with server access, open browser, built-in Wi-Fi and Miracast and 3D playback

•    BDX6400 – with server access, open browser, built-in Wi-Fi and Miracast, 3D playback, plus built-in 4K upconversion

Availability
Toshiba’s Media Box and Universal Disc Player line-up is scheduled to ship in March 2013.
