Adobe Drives Innovation With New Video Workflows at NAB 2013

Company Previews Next Generation of Professional Video and Audio Products and Launches Adobe Anywhere for Video

Adobe MAX 2013
2013 NAB Show

SAN JOSE, Calif. — At the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) will showcase new software and video technology that is transforming the way broadcasters, filmmakers and video professionals create and deliver high-quality productions across multiple screens. Highlights of the show include the first public demonstrations of the next generation of Adobe’s flagship video tools including Adobe® Premiere® Pro, Adobe After Effects® SpeedGrade™, Adobe Audition® Adobe Prelude™, Adobe Media Encoder and Adobe Story before their official release. NAB attendees will see a modern, highly-interoperable set of video tools that enable fast, seamless workflows.

Adobe is also announcing Adobe Anywhere for video – a modern, collaborative workflow platform that empowers teams using Adobe professional video tools, to work together accessing and managing centralized media and assets across virtually any network (see separate release). Adobe will demonstrate its new solutions during the NAB 2013 Show at its booth #SL3910, South Hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 8 – 11. Adobe professional video and broadcast tools will also be presented in nearly 100 partner booths throughout the NAB exhibition.

The company also announced it is offering a special offer aimed at video professionals in North America to join Adobe Creative Cloud™ for $29.99 a month for their first year, which is 40 percent off the regular price of an annual membership to Adobe Creative Cloud. Although the new features being previewed at NAB are not yet publicly available, one of the major benefits of Adobe Creative Cloud membership is that members get access to the latest upgrades and features as soon as they are released for no additional cost. This offer is valid through April 19, 2013. For more information, visit here.

The next version of Adobe video tools has been developed with features created in direct response to the needs of filmmakers, broadcasters and video professionals. In fact, the multiple Academy Award winning Coen brothers have been working directly with the Adobe Premiere Pro product team and are switching to Adobe Premiere Pro for their next feature film slated for late 2013.

“Broadcasters, filmmakers and video professionals are looking for modern tools that meet the demands of today’s evolving video industry,” said Steve Warner, vice president of product development, Adobe. “Adobe’s video tools revealed today provide content creators with one powerful toolset to help them produce exceptional content and streamline workflows. From Academy Award winning filmmakers like the Coen brothers to global broadcasters, these innovative tools are what will continue to drive the shift to Adobe video solutions across the broadcast and media industries.”

Revealing the Future of Video and Audio
At NAB, Adobe will provide a sneak peek of new features coming to Adobe’s professional video tools. Innovative features in the upcoming versions of the tools will give users more creative control, so they can tell their story with more impact, as well as speed up daily tasks with powerful performance and productivity enhancements.

Every editor’s process is different, and with the next version of Adobe Premiere Pro, editors can work the way they want. Increased customization capabilities, significant new shortcuts for faster, keyboard-driven editing, Link & Locate to quickly relink media, and an expanded set of supported media formats let editors work smarter and faster. It also has more powerful color workflows with the addition of the Lumetri™ Deep Color Engine, to easily apply rich color grading looks directly in Adobe Premiere Pro. Or, users can send files to the newly redesigned Adobe SpeedGrade, for precise control over every aspect of their project’s color and light. The next version of SpeedGrade sports a greatly improved user interface designed with efficiency in mind. It gives users faster access to regularly used tools, and the new one-click Shot Matcher feature that matches clips from different cameras with varying lighting conditions.

“Adobe’s video tools just keep getting faster and more powerful with each new release,” says Adam Pertofsky, award-winning editor and partner at Rock Paper Scissors. “When I’m editing commercials, speed and flexibility are critical. There are so many great new features in Adobe Premiere Pro that are clearly designed with editors in mind. And the integration of Adobe video tools allow me to forget about the technology and focus on the most important part of my job as an editor – thinking creatively.”

A powerful new version of Adobe After Effects® brings motion graphics and visual effects artists more creative possibilities and allows them to work easily in 3D with the new Live 3D Pipeline with Maxon Cinema4D integration. The Refine Edge tool enables faster, superior rotoscoping results and the Warp Stabilizer VFX feature allows users to stabilize a specific portion of a shot. New creative tools in Adobe Audition® include Sound Remover and Preview Editor to help improve overall sound quality.

Logging and ingest tool Adobe Prelude has matured since its release at NAB 2012, with new ability to scrub thumbnails in the project panel to quickly see imported footage – a top customer-requested feature. Adobe Prelude now also adds metadata during ingest, and editing is faster with new Adobe Story panels giving Adobe Prelude and Adobe Premiere Pro users access to Story scripts, and ability to match the script to clips and using Speech to Text analysis.

Discussing the Fusion of New Media and Filmmaking
On Sunday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. in room N250, Adobe will lead the Post|Production World keynote titled, “From Concept to Delivery: The Fusion of New Media and Storytelling.” The panel will feature Adam Pertofsky, editor and partner at Rock Paper Scissors, Bayan Joonam of Soul Pancake, Rainn Wilson’s production and media company, and Patrick F. X. Murphy, Visual Effects Supervisor and Animation Director for “Annoying Orange” on Cartoon Network, who will join moderator Mark Randall, chief strategist for Adobe, to discuss how creativity and technology work together.
