DVD6C Sues CDI Media for Unpaid DVD Royalties

The DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) announced that its authorized licensor, Toshiba, is suing CDI Media, Inc. to collect royalties allegedly due under the DVD6C patent license.

As a matter of background, the DVD6C is a patent pool formed by nine developers of DVD technology including Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo Electric, Sharp, Toshiba, JVC, Time Warner.

Toshiba, the authorized licensor for DVD6C, files lawsuit in federal court to collect patent royalties due from CDI Media, Inc.

October 2, 2013 — On September 24, 2013, the DVD6C Licensing Group (“DVD6C”) – comprising nine leading developers of DVD technology – through authorized licensor Toshiba filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to collect patent royalties due from CDI Media, Inc. – a DVD disc replicator. This action is part of a continuing global initiative by the DVD6C Licensing Group to enforce the DVD6C Patent License Agreement.
