P&F USA Announces New Philips HDR Devices That Give Consumers the Freedom to Record and Store All Their Favorite Broadcast Shows

ATLANTA — Designed to allow consumers to ‘cut the cord’ and the freedom to watch television when it is convenient, the new line of Philips HDR (HDR5710 and HDR5750) record hours of full HD 1080P broadcast television recording without tying consumers to a contract or subscription. These new devices feature built-in Wi-Fi and the connected benefits of Netflix®, CinemaNow®, YouTube® and Vudu® for a complete entertainment experience.

“Consumers want to watch television on their schedule and Philips HDR products give them the freedom to do just that,” said Keith Michael, senior marketing director, P&F USA, the exclusive electronics licensee for Philips in North America. “Research shows more and more consumers are cutting the cord from cable or satellite and opting for basic channel programs, especially since the number of free over the air channels has increased significantly. Unlike traditional HDR devices, Philips HDRs allow customers to record over the air content free without needing a subscription.”

Philips HDR5710 and HDR5750 features time shift recording of HD over-the-air broadcast content. Both models have a built-in ATSC Tuner and can store up to 50 hours of HD TV programs on the 500GB HDR5710 and up to 100 hours on the 1Tb HDR5750. Each unit features wireless connectivity for network apps and an HDMI input for a simple setup. Consumers can increase their storage by using an external hard drive that easily connects via USB to the console.

Total Access – One Ultimate Entertainment Hub
Consumers no longer want to be corralled into set viewing times, but rather want the freedom to actively select the content that is relevant to their lives. In addition to allowing consumers to record and watch on-air programs on their schedule, the HDR5710 and HDR5750 offer built-in access to the most popular sites including YouTube®, Netflix, VUDU, and CinemaNow offering fast and easy access to services. All of these services are free from a monthly subscription, with the exception of Netflix, which requires one of their many customizable membership plans. The remote features dedicated buttons for both Netflix and VUDU making it a one-touch solution giving consumers instant access to unlimited entertainment. Completing the at-home cinema experience, both units feature Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound for the best sound quality. A sleek, minimalistic design makes these HDRs a complement to any environment.

Philips HDRs offer the best of both worlds, free recording of over-the-air content for time shift viewing, as well as capitalizing on the popular trend of wireless streaming services such as NetFlix, YouTube, Vudu and CinemaNow. The HDR5710 will have a suggested retail price of $249.99 and the HRD5750 will have a suggested retail price of $299.99. Both models are expected to be available in November making them the perfect gift idea for the holidays.
