Kahl am Main, February 21, 2014 – Pursuant to unaudited, preliminary results SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES (SINGULUS) achieved sales of about € 134 million in the business year 2013 (+23 %) and therefore exceeded the sales of € 108.6 million in the year 2012. The operating result (EBIT) improved considerably and amounted to around € 2 million in the business year 2013 compared with € -16.6 million before extraordinary charges in the prior year.
Accordingly, SINGULUS met its published forecast for the business year 2013.
The order intake of approx. € 115 million in 2013 remained nearly around the prior-year level of € 121.9 million. The order backlog as of December 31, 2013 in the amount of around € 20 million (previous years: € 40.1 million). The order intake and backlog of the fiscal year 2013 is primarily due to delayed contract conclusions in the segments Solar and Semiconductor.
In 2014 SINGULUS already reported new orders for the Solar and Semiconductor segment. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Rinck, Chief Executive Officer of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, remarks: “With the two strong core work areas of Optical Disc and Solar together with the opportunities provided by the semiconductor market, we are optimistic for the year 2014. In particular for the Solar segment, we expect a significant improvement of the market situation. Several positive forecasts for 2014 and 2015 confirm our assessment.”
Dr. Rinck adds: “We are also focusing on the development of vacuum coating machines for new application to open new industries and work areas.”
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES will publish the full report for the business 2013 on March 31, 2014.
