Thanks to the availability of both Google Play and Philips Smart TV they provide access to more premium video and gaming apps than any other Philips TV. The first Philips TVs featuring Android will be available from the second quarter 2014 in Europe and Russia.

Europe’s first Philips Ambilight TVs powered by Android
The Philips 8000 models are the first Android based TVs coming to Europe and Russia. They provide access to popular Google™ services and features including Google Chrome™ browser, YouTube™, Google Movies, Google Music, and Google search.

The best of two worlds: Philips Smart TV apps and Google Play Store
Philips TVs with Android provide a smarter TV experience by combining the offerings of Google Play with its broad choice of apps and Philips Smart TV including video on demand via Netflix, music streaming via Spotify and Cloud TV with hundreds of online TV channels. Cloud Explorer using Dropbox allows content stored in the cloud to be displayed on the large screen Android TVs.

Extensive gaming option, rich in variety
The highly responsive Android operating system and the powerful quad-core (8100, 8200) or even hexcore processing power (8800) will allow Philips TVs to offer consumers a new experience from gaming, video on demand services to local relevant apps. Philips Android TV owners can leverage the broad selection of games in Google Play, which spans casual and high-end games. To ensure best possible gaming comfort games can be operated via pointer and cursor or via a separate controller.

Top-class picture quality
The Philips 8000 series deliver superb picture quality. 800 Hz Perfect Motion Rate plus Super Resolution (8100, 8200) or 1000 Hz Perfect Motion Rate Ultra plus Ultra Resolution (8800) ensure superb motion sharpness. They also feature Local Contrast to further improve the screens’ splendid contrast and Micro Dimming Pro, a sensor-based technology that dynamically adapts the LED backlight depending on the ambient room light; this delivers impressive contrast through deep blacks and bright whites.

First Android-based Ultra HD TVs
The 8800 series brings Android to the 4K Ultra HD TV world. They feature Ultra Resolution that allows any content to be upscaled in real time to be viewed in vivid 4K Ultra HD resolution with great sharpness and detail.

Distance adaptive sharpness on 8800 series
‘Viewers’ perception of pictures on a TV screen depends on the distance between them and the TV. Therefore, Philips 8800 TVs smartly uses the integrated camera and offers a picture setting that automatically detects the viewer and adapts sharpness accordingly.

4-sided Ambilight with gaming mode
The Philips 8000 series feature 4-sided Ambilight with the newly integrated Ambilight gaming mode to further enhance their advanced gaming capabilities. It enables Ambilight to quickly follow the fast moving scenes of action and sports games delivering an absolutely immersive gaming experience.

Truly smart interaction
Interacting with a Philips TV has never been easier. The 8000 series models can be controlled via pointing, cursor navigation, typing, talking or making gestures.

Smooth interconnection with smart devices
Philips TVs will move closer to smartphones and tablets running on Android, while maintaining hassle-free connectivity with devices supporting Apple IOS. Next to their broad selection of interfaces and ports, they also support Philips TV Remote app, Wi-Fi Miracast™ and SimplyShare to allow wireless streaming to and from mobile devices. MultiRoom viewing permits content to be streamed to a secondary TV anywhere in the house.
