Deluxe Acquires Next Element

Deluxe Digital Media, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, announced that it has acquired the assets of Next Element Studios in Burbank, California.

According to the statement, Next Element is a creative, data-centric post production facility that has been a leader in the transition to tapeless digital workflows for the motion picture and TV industries. Their proprietary SmartSoft software has automated many of the tasks needed for file-based workflow, allowing for freedom from legacy post production solutions associated with tape-based equipment. Additionally, mobilabs, Next Element’s location-based dailies solution for digitally acquired shows, offers productions time, cost and security advantages.

Next Element will now operate under the name Next Element by Deluxe and will remain in its current location with all employees being retained.

Next Element’s current slate of new series includes The Gates for Fox & ABC, Covert Affairs for NBC Universal and Shameless for Warner Brothers & Showtime.

Bruce Long, former CEO of Next Element, will continue to lead Next Element by Deluxe as Senior Vice President, Post Production. He will report to Gray Ainsworth, Senior Vice President, Operations for Deluxe Digital Media.

“With Next Element by Deluxe, we now have a sophisticated and visionary non-linear file-based workflow for the post-production process for digitally captured content, particularly for TV post production,” says Ainsworth. “Coupled with our Vancouver, Toronto and New York facilities, Deluxe can offer producers the premier experience for TV post production along with our other post services in North America,” adds Ainsworth.

“We are very excited about joining forces with Deluxe to deliver on the promise and potential of the digital revolution. The unique technologies and creative workflows our team has developed are a perfect fit to integrate into the global presence of Deluxe,” said Long.
