TORONTO, Aug. 20, 2015 – The wait is over; we’re moving in today. Opening the door to a world of entertainment, shomi is now available to all Canadians. Entertainment lovers from coast to coast can subscribe to shomi directly and stream exclusive and buzzworthy series including Fresh off the Boat, Empire, Vikings, Transparent, Jane the Virgin, Outlander, Sons of Anarchy, Black Sails, and iZombie – hit titles the other guys don’t have. An extraordinary cast of characters is moving in, so make some room and grab the popcorn – or brains with hot sauce, if you prefer. We won’t judge.
“Today is an epic day for Canadian entertainment lovers as we deliver on the promise we made to them back in May,” said David Asch, Senior Vice President and General Manager, shomi. “We announced we would be moving in, and today we’ve arrived. shomi is now available to all Canadians.”
Starting today, Canadians can subscribe directly to shomi to access the service through their Internet provider. And shomi is accessible on the platforms Canadians want – tablet, mobile, online, Xbox 360, Apple TV, Chromecast, as well as set-top boxes for Rogers and Shaw TV subscribers. The service is also on offer to other cable providers and ISPs. New members get to try their first month of shomi for free when they subscribe, then enjoy non-stop streaming for just $8.99 per month.
As shomi moves in, we’re offering the ultimate housewarming gift. O.K., it’s actually a contest – a chance to celebrate just how excited we are now that we’re available to all Canadians. If you’re a true entertainment lover gearing up for a shomi streaming party, you’re going to need a cool home entertainment setup. Help us celebrate bringing shomi to all Canadians by entering a contest for a chance to win a shomi-perfect Grand Prize home entertainment pack, including one Sony 55″ 4K Ultra HD 120Hz LED Android TV, one Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5″ 16GB Android 4.4 Tablet, one Google Chromecast, and a one-year paid subscription to shomi.
If you spot a marauding gang of vikings, zombies, highlanders, and pirates on the streets of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Halifax today – don’t be alarmed, they’re just excited about shomi (and they’re friendly too, even the zombie).
