BD4C Announces a Limited-Time Incentive Program for Blu-ray Disc Products

September 1, 2010 – Tokyo, Japan — The BD4C Licensing Group — consisting of leading technology companies Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Technicolor, Toshiba Corporation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment — today announced that it is launching a limited-time incentive plan available to all companies that wish to obtain portfolio licenses to the BD4C members’ essential patents for Blu-ray Disc (“BD”) products (including BD Products that incorporate DVD functionality).

Under the incentive plan, companies that enter into a license agreement with the BD4C Licensing Group by December 31, 2010 will benefit from a sliding scale discount on royalties accruing for BD products manufactured and sold on or before September 30, 2010. The level of discount will depend on the date by which a company signs the license agreement, as follows:

October 31, 2010     40% Discount
November 30, 2010     30% Discount
December 31, 2010     20% Discount

All BD4C licensees, including current and future licensees, are eligible to enjoy the benefits of this incentive plan, provided that they enter into license agreements with the BD4C Licensing Group by the dates specified above. Licensees that have already paid royalties will be entitled to receive a credit against future royalties in the amount of the applicable discount on royalties accruing for BD products manufactured and sold on or before September 30, 2010.
