Enhanced Kodak CD-R Disc Transporter Receives Cross-Platform CD Mastering Software Support From HyCD Publisher by Creative Digital Research
HyCD Publisher Links Disc Transporter to Windows 95 and Windows NT Computers, Creates Hybrid Discs
ROCHESTER, N.Y.–Oct. 13, 1997 — Kodak, a global leader in optical disc recording hardware, media, and robotics, today announced the availability of cross-platform CD publishing support on Windows 95 and NT for the enhanced Kodak Disc Transporter.
HyCD Publisher from Creative Digital Research, Inc. (CDR) enables users of DOS, Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX computers to publish hybrid CDs using the Kodak Disc Transporter with the recently-introduced adapter kit. The adapter kit allows users to combine the robust robotics of the Disc Transporter with internal CD-R drives from leading manufacturers.
“HyCD Publisher provides a powerful connection from the Disc Transporter — equipped with low-cost, mainstream CD recorders — to a broad range of entry-level users in departmental and small business environments,” said Ron Baker, Worldwide Product Line Manager, Writable CD Systems for Kodak. “HyCD Publisher now opens that market for Kodak’s reliable and rugged robotics technology.”
HyCD Publisher Professional, a feature-rich, versatile CD premastering tool, formats recorded data so that it can be read on DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT, Macintosh, and UNIX computers. It is the industry’s only cross-platform CD premastering application capable of creating CD-ROM discs that simultaneously support the ISO 9660, Joliet, HFS, and ISO 9660 Rockridge file formats. HyCD Publisher Professional also creates bootable CDs for PC and UNIX systems using the El Torito format.
Kodak is the world’s premier provider of robotics solutions for the CD industry. Previously, the Disc Transporter required integration with the high-performance Kodak PCD Writer 600, which lists for $19,995. The new Disc Transporter adapter kit allows integration with mainstream CD recorders costing under $1,000 from leading manufacturers.
“Kodak has set the standard for CD recordable robotics, and we are pleased to support their technology in mainstream computing environments,” said Paul Ling, President, Creative Digital Research. “Together, CDR and Kodak can open new markets and applications with this powerful and affordable solution.”
HyCD Publisher Professional for the Kodak Disc Transporter is available now, with an MSRP of $495.
