Announcement of Development for SD Express microSD Memory Cards
JUNE 4TH, 2024 – Nextorage Co., Ltd. (President: Katsuyuki Honda, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa, Japan) is excited to announce the commencement of development for microSD memory cards adhering to the SD Express standard.
In response to the growing need for compact, high-speed memory solutions in fields such as edge AI, high-quality digital imaging, next-generation gaming, and advanced industrial applications, we are developing SD Express-compatible microSD memory cards, aiming for a market launch in fall 2024.
The newly developed microSD memory cards will adopt the SD Express 7.1 standard, featuring a PCIe 3.0 interface, and will support transfer speeds of up to 985 MB/s as per the standard.
Nextorage has a track record of developing numerous memory solutions utilizing the PCIe interface standard, including M.2 SSDs and CFexpress memory cards, and has received high praise for speed and stability. We aim to leverage this expertise to develop high-speed, stable SD Express microSD memory cards.
Key Features of the Nextorage SD Express microSD Memory Card
The new SD Express microSD memory card will offer a maximum sequential read speed of 810 MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 770 MB/s. It will be available in two capacities: 256 GB and 128 GB. Designed to operate at low temperatures and minimize thermal throttling, it ensures fast and stable data transfers.
We plan to provide sample cards for hardware manufacturers’ development purposes. Further details will be announced once the samples are available.
