The Copyright Board of Canada issued on December 16, 2009 an interim tariff of levies to be collected in 2010 on the sale of blank audio recording media in Canada.
According to the interim decision, the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC) will continue to collect levies at the current rate (certified on December 6, 2008 for 2008 and 2009) until the Copyright Board issues a final decision. The Board heard arguments on November 24-25, 2009 and there were no levy rate increases proposed for 2010.
Private Copying Tariff, 2010 Proposed Levy Amounts
$0.29 each — CD-R, CD-RW, CD-R Audio, CD-RW Audio, MiniDisc
$0.24 each — audio cassette (≥ 40 minutes length)
