Boxee Box by D-Link Makes Guest Appearance on CBS’ “The Talk”
Award-Winning Set-Top Box Gives Audience Members the Ultimate Web-to-TV Experience
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA–(January 31, 2011) – D-Link today announced that its award-winning Boxee Box by D-Link was featured on Friday’s segment of CBS’ new daily daytime talk show “The Talk.” Given to everyone in the audience, the Boxee Box aggregates the best Internet content and locally stored media into an intuitive on-screen interface allowing consumers to enjoy movies, TV shows, clips, photos, and more from the Internet on a TV for the ultimate Web-to-TV experience.
“The Boxee Box is changing the way today’s families are viewing and sharing content,” said Daniel Kelley, D-Link’s Associate Vice President of Consumer Marketing, North America. “Whether its reminiscing over photos and home videos, catching up on the latest episode of your favorite TV show, or sharing movie picks with friends on Facebook and Twitter, the Boxee Box is a complete entertainment hub for today’s connected families. We are delighted to be a part of the latest episode of ‘The Talk’ and to give audience members a first-hand look at the Boxee Box home entertainment experience.”
Now one of the best-selling consumer electronics devices for home entertainment, the set-top box features high-performance hardware and a huge content library, including the recently added VUDU for access to the largest selection of HD movies on-demand, new releases (same day as DVD), and thousands of standard definition movies for rental at $2 for two nights. In addition, recent updates from Boxee feature a simpler, more intuitive interface, a host of new apps, and a truly open Web-to-TV experience. All consumers need is a TV with an HDMI input and an Internet connection, and the Boxee Box takes care of the rest.
A “Lean-Back” Couch Experience
The Boxee Box supports full HD (1080p resolution) and doesn’t lock users into an all-or-nothing store for purchasing content. The hardware is equipped with an SD card slot, two USB ports, an optical digital audio connector, HDMI output, 802.11n wireless, and an Ethernet port for connectivity flexibility. With double-sided remote featuring a built-in QWERTY keyboard, and simple browsing interface, consumers can kick back and watch virtually anything or easily customize their own TV and music stations. The Boxee Box also connects users to their friends with links to popular social networks built into the platform, so users share their favorites and watch shared videos from Facebook and Twitter on their TV.
“The Talk” examines topical events and contemporary issues through the eyes of five female hosts who are all mothers and airs weekdays (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT), on the CBS Television Network. “The Talk” is hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini. Brad Bessey, Gilbert, who developed the show, and John Redmann are executive producers.
