Corel Corporation announced that Corel WinDVD has received BDXL certification from the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA).
According to the statement, the updated version of Corel WinDVD with certified BDXL support will be available to the company’s OEM partners starting in November 2010. Additionally, Corel plans to add BDXL support to future OEM versions of Direct Disc Recorder, which is part of Corel Digital Studio as well as its DDR Move series products.

Corel Delivering WinDVD® with BDXLTM Certification to OEM Partners
OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(Oct. 15, 2010) – Corel today announced that Corel® WinDVD® has received BDXL™ certification from the Blu-ray Disc Association. With this latest certification, Corel® WinDVD continues its track record of supporting the latest Blu-ray technologies and providing consumers with the industry’s best movie-watching experience on the PC. The updated version of Corel WinDVD with certified BDXL support will be available to OEM partners starting in November 2010.
As described by the Blu-ray Disc Association, the BDXL specification provides customers with a new multi-layer recordable Blu-ray Disc™ format with a storage capacity of up to 128GB. With this certification, Corel WinDVD is an ideal solution for BDXL playback.

In the coming months, Corel also plans to add support for the BDXL standard to future OEM versions of Direct Disc Recorder, which is part of Corel® Digital Studio™, and the DDR Move series products.
