Cox Communications Broadcasts MLB in 3D

Cox Communications announced that, on Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11, it will broadcast the first Major League Baseball games in 3D between the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners. The games will air via YES Network 3D in Manchester and Meriden, Connecticut on channel 784.

According to the statement, subscribers with 3DTVs will be able to watch the Yankees games live at 10:10 p.m. ET on Saturday and 4:10 p.m. ET via YES 3D on Sunday. Those without 3DTVs at home can visit the Best Buy stores in Manchester or Meriden during business hours on Sunday, July 11. Best Buy will be re-airing Saturday’s 3D Yankees game from opening to 4:00 p.m., leading up to the live coverage of Sunday’s contest at 4:10.

“Cox is excited to offer our customers this unique viewing opportunity, and we also feel privileged to host anyone interested in checking out the 3D Yankees experience through our great partnership with Best Buy,” said Roger Sokolosky, vice president of sales, Cox New England. “YES is providing baseball coverage like no one has seen before.”

Cox customers will need a 3D television and an HD or HD/DVR receiver to access the Yankees on YES 3D. The TV manufacturer’s specified 3D glasses will also be required to view the content in 3D. The receiver must be connected to the 3DTV with an HDMI cable. Those customers will then be required to tune to channel 784, and change the setting on their 3DTV to “3D format” or “3D mode.”
