Dune HD Shows New HEVC-Enabled Set-Top Box At NAB 2014
Dune HD TV-204 is the First Cost-Effective, Full-featured Set-top Box to Support HEVC, with Samples Available by May 2014
LAS VEGAS, April 4, 2014 — Dune HD, the award-winning manufacturer of full HD media players and connected set-top boxes, will demonstrate the first full-featured set-top box to support HEVC at NAB 2014 April 7-10. With HEVC support, the Dune HD TV-204 provides operators a more cost effective and efficient means to deliver content into the home and samples will be available to operators by May 2014. Dune HD will demonstrate the TV-204 at NAB, South Hall Upper, Booth 10713.
HEVC-encoded content is expected to be 50% smaller than comparable H.264 / AVC files, allowing bandwidth savings for operators and streaming service providers. The TV-204 supports up to Full HD resolution and many streaming formats, containers and technologies, DRM / CA systems from Verimatrix and other leading technologies, and popular web interfaces, Webkit and HTML5. Dune HD offers flexible middleware integration options and highly competitive prices. Dune HD plans to sample the TV-204 model in April-May with mass production beginning in June-July 2014. Additional support for UHD 4k will be found in new Dune HD products in the third quarter this year.
“The TV-204 has attracted great interest from IPTV/OTT providers, and leading system integrators as HEVC is an exciting technology to enable CDN cost savings and improved frame-rate and resolution (4k) which directly translates to a better user experience,” said Konstantin Dyshlevoy, Dune HD CEO. “We have always made a commitment to supporting operators in the areas of cost savings and market innovation, and our new products do exactly that. We look forward to meeting with operators at NAB to show the performance and cost savings they’ll experience with the TV-204.”
Dune HD highlights its solutions for operators in a video featuring another of the company’s innovative products, the Dune HD TV Connect StickSTB, the smallest set-top box in the market today. To learn more about Dune HD products and benefits for operators, visit www.dune-hd.com.
