The DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) announced that its authorized licensor, Toshiba Corporation, has resolved its dispute with CDI Media, Inc.
In September 2013, Toshiba sued CDI, accusing the optical disc replicator of not paying over $1 million in royalties (dating back to April 2003) it alleged were due to the group under the DVD6C patent license. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed and, according to the statement, CDI is now a licensee in good standing for prerecorded DVD-ROM, DVD-Video and DVD-Audio discs.
As a matter of background, the DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) is a patent pool formed by nine developers of DVD technology including Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo Electric, Sharp, Toshiba, JVC and Time Warner.
