First in Japan to be certified (*1) for the latest USB standard “USB4 Ver2.0”
Launch of new USB Type-C™ cable capable of high-speed charging at 80 Gbps (60 W)
ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Koichi Iwami) is pleased to announce that it will release the first “USB4 Ver2.0” 80Gbps (60W) compatible USB Type-C (USB-C) cable certified in Japan (*1) in mid-December.
Launch of Japan’s first certified (*1) “60W power supply, 80Gbps speed” cable
This product achieves a maximum transfer speed of 80 Gbps, which is twice as fast as the previous version, in the latest standard “USB4 Ver2.0” announced by the “USB Implementers Forum,” an organization that formulates and publishes USB standards. This is the first product in Japan (*1) to be commercially available with 60W power supply under this standard, and is officially certified by USB-IF. It supports USB Power Delivery, and can supply power at up to 60W (20V/3A) and transfer data at high speeds via USB Type-C (USB-C), making it a useful product for improving work efficiency.
*1: According to our research (as of October 4, 2024)
*USB Type-C™ and USB-C™ are trademarks of USB Implementers Forum.
A USB Power Delivery EPR compatible cable capable of supplying up to 240W of power will also be released at the same time
A USB4 Ver2.0 cable is also scheduled to be released at the same time, which has the same performance as the previous product, but is compatible with USB Power Delivery EPR (Extended Power Range) and can supply up to 240W (48V/5A) of power via a USB Type-C (USB-C) cable. This product is recommended for people who are often out and about, as it reduces the number of items you need to carry, such as AC adapters for laptops (*2).
*2: To use the 240W power supply function, the USB charger, cable, and all connected devices must be USB PD EPR compatible.
Supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, allowing video output at up to 8K/60Hz
Both of the above-mentioned products can simultaneously supply power and transfer high-speed data using a single cable (*3), and are compatible with DisplayPort Alt Mode, enabling the transmission of ultra-high resolution, smooth images of up to 8K (7680x4320px)/60Hz.
*3: In this case, all connected devices must support DisplayPort Alt Mode.
