Future Shop Gets Up Early for Halo Reach

Future Shop announced that all Future Shop locations coast-to-coast in Canada will open their doors early for the release of Halo: Reach, the prequel to the popular Halo trilogy game series exclusively available for Xbox 360.

According to the statement, Halo: Reach swag will be handed out at all locations and stores will open at 12:01 a.m. on September 14, 2010, except those in Sudbury, ON and Quebec (open at 8:00 a.m.).

Midnight Madness openings celebrate one of the most anticipated gaming releases of 2010

Burnaby, BC – Future Shop, Canada’s largest retailer and etailer of consumer electronics, announces that all Future Shop locations coast-to-coast will open their doors early – some at midnight – for the release of Halo Reach, the prequel to the highly popular Halo Trilogy game series exclusively available for Xbox 360. All stores will open at 12:01 a.m. on September 14 to provide anxious gamers with their copies of the game, including the limited collector’s Legendary Edition, except those in Sudbury, ON and Quebec (- these stores open on September 14 at 8:00 a.m. local time).

“Future Shop is delighted to allow our customers to be the first in Canada to play Halo Reach through our Midnight Madness and early store openings at all our stores,” said Todd Empey, Vice President of Store Operations, Future Shop. “Halo is a globally successful series and we’re happy to offer all three editions of Halo Reach on launch day.”

Halo Reach dives gamers deeper into the sage of the Halo world and explores elements they have never before encountered. The story takes place on planet Reach where the Noble Team soldiers battle in their final stand between the evil Covenant and Earth.

Torontonians invited to square off against pro gamer
Canadian professional gamer, Kevin Garcia, will be appearing on the eve of the Halo Reach release at the East York Future Shop store (845 Eglinton Ave. E. at Laird) in Toronto to square off against other gamers playing Halo Reach. Kevin built his pro career namely from the Halo series. One lucky winner who can triumph over Kevin – or closest to it – will win an Xbox 360 250GB Halo Reach Console Bundle (worth $399.99).

Xbox 360 street teams in Toronto and Vancouver; free swag at all stores
Two squads of Xbox street teams will be present at both the East York (Toronto) and Lansdowne (Vancouver) Future Shop stores on September 13 at 9:00 p.m. local times. The street teams will also allow gamers the chance to play Halo Reach from the Xbox 360 gaming stations. Additionally, they will be handing out a variety of Halo Reach swag, ranging from apparel to tattoos and inflatable toys.

Halo Reach swag will also be handed out at all 146 Future Shop store locations.
