Hie Electronics Hosts Booth at Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Power to Purchase Technology Expo 2012

Key Benefits of the TeraStack Solution Include Total Cost of Ownership, Energy Efficiency, Intelligent Integration, High Data Integrity, Flexible Configuration/Ease of Use and IT Sustainability

McKinney, TX — April 26, 2012 — Hie Electronics, a pioneer of innovation for long-term, scalable Active Archive™ and data storage solutions and the manufacturer of the TeraStack® Solution, announced today it is hosting a booth at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Power to Purchase Technology Expo 2012 in Austin, Texas.

Hie Electronics will be highlighting the TeraStack Solution, an award winning Active Archive™ data storage system designed and manufactured by the Company. It allows for application hosting, 50-100 terabytes of data to be nearline accessible on Blu-ray optical media, and up to 42 terabytes of data on online hard drives. The TeraStack Solution is an industry leader in energy efficiency by using a hybrid data architecture that moves fixed content onto lower cost storage tiers, coupled with Blu-ray media that is used to store the sleeping data, which eliminates the need for hard drives to constantly spin and consume energy.

“We are very pleased to be able to present our product to prospective customers at the DIR Power to Purchase Technology Expo,” said Patrick Humm, Founder and President of Hie Electronics. “We believe that as IT professionals learn about the benefits for both total cost of ownership and energy efficiency they will look for more opportunities to integrate our products into their existing data architecture.”

Power to Purchase brings DIR contracted technology vendors together with IT and purchasing staff from state agencies, local and county government, K-12 and higher education to raise awareness about their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Contracts program. ICT Contracts is a streamlined cooperative purchasing program for state and local government, public education, and other public entities within and outside the state of Texas. The event includes a wide range of educational break out sessions as well as time to network in the exhibit hall.

The TeraStack Solution can be used for medical industry applications as well as critical data backup, digital asset management, film and video archiving, forensic evidence data storage, geospatial imaging data archiving and storage and digital video surveillance storage.
