International 3D Society and 3net™ Announce Multi-Year 3D Awards Telecast Agreement
LOS ANGELES–The International 3D Society, in conjunction with 3net™, will be broadcasting the Society’s Annual 3D Creative Arts Awards Show on February 9 in 3D on 3net™, making television history.
The multi-year agreement airs the Society’s Annual Creative Arts Awards on 3net™. 3net™, the first 24/7, fully programmed 3D entertainment network, is a joint venture between Sony Corporation, Discovery Communications, and IMAX Corporation. The Annual 3D Creative Arts Awards Show will feature red carpet arrivals and the awards ceremony, as well as highlights of upcoming 3D productions.
The Society’s awards show will be captured with 3D cameras and produced as a two-hour special aired on 3net™. The network is scheduled to launch in early 2011. The theme of this year’s Society program is “Your World in 3D.”
“This annual telecast of the Society’s Awards Show will be a key element of 3net’s™ commitment to bringing the ‘best of the best’ 3D to our viewers everywhere,” said 3net™ President Tom Cosgrove.

The Society’s 2nd Annual Creative Arts Awards will be held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony will honor the year’s best 3D movies, television shows, videogames and advertising as voted on by the Society’s membership.
The Society has enlisted leading stereoscopic 3D acquisition experts 3ality Digital to produce the 2011 awards telecast, ensuring the highest quality 3D experience for television audiences.
The 3D Creative Arts Awards Show will be using the XPAND 3D system and its active glasses technology.
Society President Jim Chabin remarked, “The telecast will also be the organization’s annual preview for 3D content coming to consumers in the year ahead. We are building an exciting annual tradition which showcases 3D not only to the moviegoer, but also to consumers who enjoy 3D in the comfort of their own living room.”
