ICON2010, Digital Contents Conference of Korea, Convenes on Nov. 18 at BEXCO in Busan
SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 18 —
– International Contents Creators’ Conference for next-generation
digital entertainment
– Special focus on experiential arcade games and 3D stereoscopic
technologies
A conference will be held to discuss global trends and visions of digital contents as well as convergence strategies for the rapidly changing digital game market.
The ICON2010 Secretariat (Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency) announced the hosting of ICON2010(International Content Creator’s Conference 2010) to be held on November 18 and 19 at the BEXCO Center in Busan. The conference will feature about 40 presentations given by leading global digital contents creators in 4 tracks.
Organized for the 4th time this year, the International Content Creator’s Conference (ICON) has been highly regarded as a rich venue for networking, marketing and discussing important global trends of content development.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Touch the Future” with focus on convergence strategies that will shape the rapidly changing digital game market. In addition to presentations focusing on experiential arcade games, future technologies based on 3D stereoscopy will also be introduced, including functional games as well as additional themes relating to future visions and case studies on technology integration featuring games.
In the “experiential arcade” track, presentations will be given on Sony’s “PlayStation(R) Move,” — the motion-recognition technologies that are expected to be the biggest topic of conversation of the console game industry this year.
In the “functional game” track, NHN will give a presentation titled, “Functional Games Through Never’s Games in Life”. T3 Entertainment and SKONEC Entertainment will respectively offer presentations on “Audition English” and “Magic Chunjamun DS”.
The “3D technology” track will feature a lecture by James Ogle, the lead digital modeler for the world-famous Weta Digital, which is also known for such films as “Avatar” and “The Lord of the Rings”.
An insider of the ICON2010 Secretariat said, “For this event, we have added the arcade field as the only case in Korea. Considering the geographical advantages of Busan and the fact that Busan has a cluster of arcade game parts industries, we would like to accentuate the industrial characteristics and therefore contribute to promoting the arcade industry, which is somewhat stagnant at the moment.”
