Imation CTO Subodh Kulkarni to Speak at 2010 Library of Congress Meeting on ‘Designing Architectures for Digital Preservation’

OAKDALE, Minn.–Imation Corp. Kulkarni has been invited to speak at the 2010 Library of Congress Meeting on ‘Designing Architectures for Digital Preservation.’ The meeting, to be held in Washington, D.C., September 28-29, brings together technical industry experts, IT professionals, digital collections and strategic planning staff, government specialists with an interest in preservation, and recognized authorities and practitioners of digital preservation to identify common areas of interest to inform decision making in the future.

Kulkarni will address data storage formats available today, including magnetic tape, optical disc, flash and hard disk drives and review the relevant attributes of each media when considering long-term data preservation. Additionally, he will discuss future storage technologies and product capacity roadmaps.

Kulkarni leads Imation’s global Research, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing functions and is a recognized industry expert in data storage and archive technologies spanning magnetic, optical, flash and hard disk drive storage formats. Kulkarni holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds eight U.S. patents. Kulkarni serves on the Boards of Directors for CyberOptics (NASDAQ: CYBE) and the Minnesota High Technology Association (MHTA).
