New JVC Blu-ray/Hard Drive Combo Deck Allows Direct Recording of Live Signal to Blu-ray Disc
WAYNE, NJ (April 16, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the SR-HD2500US, the latest model in its successful line of high performance professional combo decks. With its built-in Blu-ray recorder and 500 GB hard drive, the unit provides easy duplication and disc authoring without a PC. Plus, it features an HD/SD-SDI input, which allows it to connect to most professional video systems and provide direct recording of a live signal to Blu-ray disc.
“With its built-in HD-SDI interface, the new SR-HD2500US is compatible with most HD production switchers,” explained Dave Walton, JVC assistant vice president, marketing communications. “Beyond traditional duplication tasks, our new combo deck is a very valuable tool for live events, because a producer can deliver a Blu-ray copy of a program to their client as soon as the program is completed.”
For disc authoring, videos are transferred from a camcorder or other device to the internal hard drive (which stores up to 24 hours of HD footage), then assembled into a completed project and recorded to Blu-ray disc via a simple, menu-driven interface. Users can record and author professional BDMV (with menu) or BDAV discs using BD-R or BD-RE (erasable) Blu-ray discs. Unprotected DVD and Blu-ray discs can be easily duplicated as well.
The SR-HD2500US offers a number of upgrades over JVC’s previous Blu-ray combo decks. For example, time code mode allows producers to a create a “window burn” of the time code embedded in the SDI signal. It is an easy way to create high-quality dailies and client review copies – and the window burn is in the picture area, making it far less attractive for unauthorized use.
A time stamp feature provides on-screen time and date information, even when there is no time code information embedded in the SDI signal. Generated by the clock in the SR-HD2500US, time stamp information is useful for surveillance and law enforcement applications, as well as academic and medical research.
Discs can be authored for auto-start or repeat playback, which is ideal for retail point-of-sale displays or kiosks. With its built-in format converter, the SR-HD2500US can record to DVDs as well. The unit supports AVC H.264, MPEG-TS, and MPEG-2 video recording, plus Dolby Digital and Linear PCM audio recording. It also accepts AVCHD camcorder files as well as .MOV files recorded by JVC ProHD camcorders at 19, 25, and 35 Mbps.
The SR-HD2500US features USB and i.Link (IEEE-1394) ports, as well as a SDHC card slot, for compatibility with a wide variety of digital sources. Composite and S-Video inputs are included to provide support for legacy analog devices. There are also HD-SDI, HDMI, and component outputs for flexible monitoring, and a RS-232 port for external control.
The SR-HD2500US has a suggested list price of $3,995 and is now shipping. JVC will showcase the new combo deck at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C4314), which runs April 16-19 in Las Vegas, Nev.
