LG’s 2016 Flat OLED Televisions Arrive in Canada
G6, E6 and B6 models available for purchase starting in June
TORONTO, June 22, 2016 – LG Electronics Canada (LG) announced today their newest line of OLED TVs will now be available for purchase in Canada. The highly anticipated line delivers an incredible viewing experience from any angle with stunning true-to-life images displaying perfect black and rich colours. These TVs will be the first flat OLED TVs from LG available in Canada and will come in three model types: G6 series (65″), E6 series (65″ and 55″) and B6 series (65″ and 55″).
The entire 2016 LG OLED line of 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs deliver the stunning picture quality and advanced technologies of OLED, experts say this is the best television technology on the market. OLED offers perfect blacks, elevated brightness, expanded colour and amazing picture quality, even at wide viewing angles. Each of the models also delivers a complete high dynamic range (HDR) experience for images that come to life with support for both Dolby Vision™ and HDR10 with “Ultra HD Premium” certification by the UHD Alliance.
“The 2016 LG OLED TV lineup is in a category of its own with advanced technology that sets it apart from any other premium televisions in the market,” said Abraham Cherian, Home Electronics Senior Brand Manager, LG Electronics Canada. “HDR content, which is becoming more available from television show and movie providers, has never looked more immersive and life-like thanks to the perfect black panel and cinematic colours.”
LG OLED TVs consistently bring viewers what TV experts have called the best picture quality available, and the entire 2016 line lives up to that reputation. Thanks to OLED technology’s unique ability to turn each pixel on or completely off, LG OLED TVs produce perfect blacks and impeccably render crisp, vibrant colours and rich shadow details, even when bright objects are directly next to deep, dark areas (unlike LCD TVs, which have a halo effect from light bleeding). With 10-bit panels and 10-bit processing power, LG OLED TVs can render more than a billion possible colour variations.
Due to a wide colour range, LG OLED TVs can display the finest details of colour and gradation. This unrivaled picture quality holds up even from wide viewing angles so everyone can appreciate its colour and clarity from any seat in the house. This is a major improvement from most LCD TVs, which suffer from colour washout, lower contrast and picture distortion when viewed from an angle.
Along with their amazing picture quality, LG OLED TVs are also elegant by design. The TVs’ bezels are extraordinarily narrow and the OLED panel is so slim that it transforms the TV into a stunning design feature that will enhance the look of any room. The “Picture on Glass” design in the E and G models sets new benchmarks in aesthetics with an exceptionally thin depth, a translucent glass back and a powerful, forward-facing sound bar that doubles as a unique stand for a seemingly invisible bezel and stand.
“Here at LG we’ve engineered a truly premium 4K television with some of our most advanced technologies and design features,” said Marina Tran-Vu, Brand Manager of Home Entertainment, LG Electronics Canada. “As more HDR content becomes available – and Dolby Vision already being the preferred format for filmmakers and content providers – our OLED TVs will be able to process and display the future-forward content, giving consumers peace of mind that their TV will be able to handle new things to come.”
Perfect Black Panel
With a Perfect Black Panel, OLED pixels — all 8.3 million of them — can switch off individually to achieve perfect black and infinite contrast. An anti-glare coating on the outside reduces ambient reflection, complementing the self-lighting, individually dimming OLED pixels on the inside, for a vivid, clear, more detailed picture.
HDR Super with Dolby VisionTM
LG OLED TVs support HDR with Dolby Vision™ to create an impressive television experience. It delivers superior brightness and deeper blacks to provide an enhanced contrast ratio and a wider range of colours, making images brighter and bolder.
webOS 3.0
The latest generation of LG’s exclusive, award-winning Smart TV platform, webOS 3.0, is available in every OLED TV, adding advanced new features while making the television user-friendly. These features make finding and switching between content options – including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices – simple and fast. Enhanced mobile connectivity, remote features and more content options, makes LG webOS 3.0 even simpler and more fun than ever for users to find and enjoy the content they want to watch.
